Who Are We & What Do We Do?
Boon Sculpture Trail brings together twenty-six artists from across Aotearoa, to create and install twenty-three temporary outdoor sculptures in Kirikiriroa Hamilton. Spread over eight public sites, Hamilton Central will be transformed into an Artscape for everyone to enjoy, and you won't want to miss it.
So mould the summer of your dreams and experience this sculpture extravaganza between Saturday 3 February and Sunday 31 March 2024.
Curator Claire Ulenberg Project Info
The Boon Sculpture Trail features work from established and emerging artists. When sending out the call for proposals, I prompted the artists to think about and respond to the theme of ‘this place’ to propose work that engages with our evolving relationship with this unique whenua and provokes interaction and conversation with audiences while showcasing the bountiful diversity in contemporary art
practice in Aotearoa.
I chose such a broad and open theme in order to ignite the artist's imagination and challenge what is possible, to receive interesting and experimental responses from artists to encourage a multitude of readings and experiences for the audience.
