Alice Alva

This year, for the first time, Boon is commissioning artist and educator Alice Alva to design a mural the community will paint, allowing community invest ment and ‘ownership’ of the wall. Alice’s bright and playful designs lends itself well to this concept, and members of the public, including local school children, will collaboratively paint this mural.

Flox x Sweats

Flox aka Hayley King is Aotearoa’s most recognisable and beloved muralist. Her distinct vibrant murals and art celebrate Aotearoa’s unique flora and fauna. In this collab she is painting with SWEATS aka Pierre Hadlow, an Auckland-based multidisciplinary artist, and we are beyond excited to be showcasing their unique creative fusion on a ‘hero’ wall in Kirikiriroa, the first city of our size to do so

Te Marunui Hotene

Te Marunui is no stranger to Boon, having twice painted with us, SAF 2022 and BoC 2020. His extensive art practice considers creative practice as both a reflection of and method to facilitate healing in Urban Māori identity.

Volunteers needed

Buy a mural

One of the festival’s key highlights will be the sale of vibrant, one-of-a-kind murals. Each mural is available for $3,500 and comes with a plaque featuring the artist's name, a brief artwork description, and the buyer's logo. This is a unique opportunity to invest in local art that lives on the street and enriches the public space. These murals are more than just artwork—they are a lasting part of Hamilton’s creative legacy.

Please email sasha@boonarts.co.nz for more information on how to secure your mural.
